2.2 - What videos have Delirious? released?
Delirious? have released two videos on VHS format; 1998's A View from the Terraces, and Pro-Mode (2000). Both of these are currently only available in the UK. The UK single of See the Star included an E-CD containing the video to that song. CD1 of Its OK contained a video to It's OK, while CD2 contained a video to Pursuit of Happiness. The Waiting for the Summer and I could Sing of your Love Forever singles, and the Audio Lessonover album also included videos.
2.3 - Why don't I hear Delirious? on the radio very much?
Most of the singles did receive a little airplay. See the Star was covered by Radio 1's The Net entertainment news show and DeEPer even got to number six in their most wanted chart. Its OK was play-listed by many smaller stations and also by MTV. However Radio 1, the premier radio station in the UK, has so far play-listed only one of the singles (Promise made the C list and thus received about 5 plays in that week) and Delirious? Still haven't appeared on Top Of the Pops. Many people believe that there is a conspiracy against Delirious? because of their faith. The other reason could be they are a new band and Radio 1 has a lot of other new songs to cover. Also some believe that the number of people e-mailing and phoning requests puts radio stations off, but there is no evidence of this. You can hear Delirious? songs on Christian radio in the US and UK and occasionally on College radio.
2.4 - What are the songs about?
All of the songs are centred on God. However, while the Cutting Edge songs were usually straightforward worship, the more modern ones tend to be either about personal experiences (such as determination, confusion, frustration and simplicity) or about a situation. Below are explanations of some of the more interesting or confusing songs.
King Of Fools
King of Fools is apparently inspired by a scene in
Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame where Quasimodo is
crowned King Of Fools
. This was linked to 1 Corinthians 3
verse 18 If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of
this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise.
(NIV) There are web sites that go into more detail.
White Ribbon Day
This song is a prayer of peace for Northern Ireland. Before it was released in early 1997 Furious? sent white ribbons to everyone on the mailing list. The idea was that could be a ribbon campaign for world peace, rather like the red ribbons for AIDS. Copies of the single were also given to the leaders of both sides of the Northern Ireland peace process.
August 30th
On August 30th 1995 Martin and Jon from the band were involved in a serious car accident. After this Martin felt that he had been given a second chance, and it was this that inspired him to go full time with the band. This song was written around a year later, after his sister in law (Pip - to whom the song is dedicated) was also involved in a serious accident. In the song Martin thanks God for allowing him to live again.
Summer Of Love
This song was a B-side to the second release of Deeper
in late 1997. It was written after Stew's wife, Sarah, had
miscarried while on holiday in the summer. It tells of the pain of
their family and the rest of the band in what they had expected to
be the Summer of Love.
It's OK
This song caused much controversy in the US because of the lyric
she's as pretty as hell.
Although there are many opinions of
what it means, most believe that the lyric is describing someone who
seems to have everything figured out, but inside she is hurting and
is in need of a Saviour.
Bliss
Stu: It's a statement that we're not backing down. We know
exactly where we want to go. We want to take our music to the world
and have it recognised as being as good as anything that's out
there. But we're not going to compromise or back away from our
integrity as Christians.
This song deals with questions that
are asked by people who don't believe in God. It asks the question
"what if I'm wrong about my beliefs?" But Martin counters with
attitude of, "well, at least I lived a life full of peace and
happiness." The song ends with an undeniable statement of faith and
belief.
2.5 - Which tracks are UK/US exclusive and why?
Currently some tracks, not counting those from either d:tour Live 1997 or Audio Lessonover, are only available in either the US or UK. The list below details which these are. There is no real explanation for this, though when asked if any of the US only tracks would be seen in the UK, Stew once said that there were no plans to release them as they wanted to do the best for the fans by releasing new material.

2.6 - Who are the band's influences?
The band's influences are diverse. Martin is into bands like U2, Radiohead, The Manic Street Preachers, and The Verve. Stu is into those bands as well as being interested in Reggae music. Jon listened to all kinds of punk music while growing up and is now into bands like the Beastie Boys and DJ Shadow.
2.7 - What does Mezzamorphis mean?
The title of the album, Mezzamorphis, is a mixture of words. It's from the titles of two tracks on the album: Metamorphis, which is a play on the word metamorphosis, reflects change, the theme of the album. The Mezzanine Floor is about being between floors. It's not the first floor or the ground floor, but it's somewhere in between. The band feel that they are changing all the time and have moved on musically since the Cutting Edge albums but are not yet where they want to be.
2.8 - Why is there a picture of Elvis Presley being walked on at the end of the See the Star video?
Nobody knows for sure but can only guess that it is symbolic for lost childhood dreams as people grow. The video and song are about living life even though it can be hard and even depressing at times.
2.9 - When will there be a new album/single?
In the States; Audio Lessonover is due do be released on 19th November under the name Touch and bundled with a live disc from the current US tour. An expanded version of the live CD will be released in the UK on 30th November under the name Access:d.
Current rumours suggest that Delirious? will be recording a new studio album sometime around December/January.
Also in the works is a Spanish version of Deeper, due for release in the autumn.
2.10 - When will Delirious? be touring?
An up to date list of current tour dates can be found at http://www.delirious.co.uk/.
2.11 - Why are there two versions of the singles?
It is a common marketing activity to release singles in multiple formats, thus encouraging fans to buy more than one copy of the single. Furious? are no different from any other record company with regard to this and as such most of the Delirious? singles have been released in two different CD versions along with a cassette version. If you buy both CDs it will count as two sales, even if you buy them both at the same time.
